To explore Sri Lanka by scooter, tuktuk, or car, you are legally required to hold a valid driving permit recognized by the Sri Lankan government. We strongly recommend securing this documentation prior to your arrival to ensure a seamless travel experience.
If you hold an International Driving Permit (IDP), it must be endorsed by the Automobile Association of Ceylon (AAC). If you do not have an IDP, you can obtain a Temporary Driving Permit by verifying your home country’s driving license at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT).
